New House

8079154-1We spent the better part of January and February house hunting. We made an offer on a short sale that was a fixer but title issues and slow response from the banks led us to move past that one. After looking at 15 houses in 2 months, we made an offer on a bank owned home in good condition. We signed the first time on Monday, March 30 and were supposed to record by April 3.

However, a mistake by the foreclosing attorney on the deed to the bank resulted in a 4-week wait for the deed to be corrected. That necessitated two rate lock extensions, redoing our loan documents, getting an addendum to extend our contract with the seller, and resigning all the new paperwork on April 22. Finally, we recorded today. Although Noah has the stomach flu again (the last of it to get it this time instead of the first) and Pat was working so we can’t go to the new house again until at least tomorrow night, if Noah is better by then.

Karate Tournament

Noah competed in his first Karate tournament in Forms and Weapons (the escrima stick).

He was very good on intensity and on his moves but we found afterwards that he was supposed to have made up a “routine”. He just practiced the basic moves they did in class and that’s all he did.

Still, he showed a Black Belt attitude about getting his two medals and not a trophy. We know he wanted a trophy and was disappointed he didn’t get one but he really did a great job looking at the positive. We are very proud of him.

Easter 2009

Saturday, we went to the Village Baptist Church Easter Eggsplosion and got to reconnect with many of our old friends.

Sunday, we went to church and then to Bonneville Dam’s Fish Ladder but the fish weren’t really running yet. We only saw one. Then off to Char Burger for lunch.

Learning To Ride A Two-Wheeler

Noah’s knees were hitting the handlebars on his previous bike so we decided to get him a new bike and teach him how to ride without training wheels, as all of his friends can ride a two wheeler.

He was able to ride for 5-10 seconds within his first couple of days but we need a bigger space and some more nice weather for him to be able to really ride on his own. However, he is on his way!
