Noah chose Star Wars as the theme for his 7th birthday. After trying 5 stores and failing to find a Star Wars cake, Mom and Dad resorted to making a lightsaber cake. It actually turned out pretty good.

After going to church, we went to Burger King for lunch, came home and opened presents and then ate cake and ice cream. We ended the day at Big Al’s with time at the arcade and bowling.

Noah started first grade the Tuesday after Labor Day. He will now go to school basically all day. Kaara goes to school from 9 to noon except Wednesday.

We went fishing the Saturday after school started and kept our record clean…no fish were caught.

The Friday before Labor Day weekend, we took the kids to Oaks Amusement Park for the last big fun before school starts.

The kids loved the big slide and the historic carousel as well as the go-karts.

Luis Palau held his Portland CityFest on August 22-23. It’s a series of free events held at the Portland Waterfront Park.

Pat and the kids went down to see the skateboarding exhibit and see Bob and Larry from Veggie Tales.
